When she was 19 She released her debut single Here. It was a hugely acclaimed track by critics as well as the public. The song reached the top 19 of both the Billboard Hot 100 in Canada and also on the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the single one of its Best Songs in 2015. This same year, she also released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of the five songs she wrote that made it to the Billboard charts. It was different due to the fact that many listeners were able to relate to the interview she did with rapper Rap-Up on her journey to learn to love and accept her. Cara's songs often include positive messages regarding mental health and how important it is to love yourself. The music of Cara is directly from her battle with insomnia, mental illness and other issues. Reuters said that she described her album "half turbulent, and half finished". Her growth was aided by therapy and she encourages others to seek assistance if needed. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents come from Italian heritage. Her parents bought her a new guitar that she was able to use to further develop her passion for music. In the age of 13she began covering songs she loved on YouTube in order to show the public that she was talented and was able to pursue a career as a musician. One of the songs Sweater Weather got noticed by a record label named EP Entertainment which allowed her to compose and record the tracks.
